The Trio Behind the Sound
As After School Special, Jill, Julie, and Sitara bring their own unique style to pop, rock and country hits throughout the decades. They chose their band name because one member is a current teacher, one a former teacher, and one an almost teacher.
Versatile vocalists Jill and Julie combine their harmonies with Sitara's incredible lead guitar showmanship. They specialize in stripping down familiar tunes into interesting acoustic versions giving the songs an intimate and natural vibe. The group is perfect for small restaurant stages, outdoor venues like wineries and breweries, wedding reception cocktail hours, and so much more.
More About Us
Julie, center, on vocals and rhythm guitar, sings and plays for local band, The Jehms. She is a music director for several choirs and musical theater groups and has been a vocal coach and church musician for many years. She also plays the cello and loves to sing just about anything!
Sitara, right, on lead guitar, also plays lead for The Jehms. She is known for incorporating Rock, Blues, Jazz, Rockabilly, Country, and Funk in an artistic and melodic manner to compliment the band. She is inspired by players like Brian May (Queen) and Rik Emmett (Triumph).
Jill, left, on vocals and percussion, is a teacher at a local school and musician. She is a founding and former member of local band, Necessary Diversion, and also sang with The Jehms. Jill sings in a church ensemble and has performed in musicals, events and pit orchestra (trumpet) at her church as well. She has been a singer and a lover of music
(of many genres) her whole life.
